Computer Upgrade Recommendations

(New Computer Recommendation)

My advice on a new computer: 512 MB RAM ! (megabytes) or get a gig (1GB) is the only trick. Everything else is personal preference.

Strategy: The strategy I advise is that when in doubt, line them up by price. Avoid the most and the least expensive items. High end systems are only good for gamers shooting up the competition and also require a broadband internet connection. Low end systems are for people who aren't sure what a computer is for, but would like to have one because "everyone else has one". Pick one in the middle. They are all the same speed. Some say they are faster and some pull a heavier load. Each has it's own marketing niche, but they are all pretty much the same. If I were to buy one, it would probably have "Dell" printed somewhere on it. The one I currently use has a Pentium chip and is several years old. It is also the same system running my website and my internet browser (FireFox).
